Hello crafty friends, Susie Bentz here today to share an easy DIY Wedding project featuring ColorBox® ColoriQue inks!
For me, the fun part about a wedding is coordinating all the little details that help create an atmosphere. One of those little details is color. A friend’s wedding has a rustic theme and I knew these metal pails would look great with a little splash of exactly the right color!
ColoriQue is vibrant, opaque, blendable color that cleans up easily with soap and water. It dries to the touch in less than 5 minutes, depending upon the application. It applies easily with brushes, sponges or daubers and heat is recommended to set the color. It works on metal, clay, ceramic, glass, leather, wood and more! The color I needed was going to be a custom mix of Poppy and Pink Ice.
I gave the pails a quick wash to remove any dust or oils before I started. Since I just wanted to apply a band of color across the top, I did use painter’s tape to mask off the area. Using my craft mat as a pallete I mixed the inks until I had the desired shade then I applied it to the pails with a foam brush. You can see here that it gave me a nice opaque finish.
Once the color had dried it was easy to reveal the texture by scuffing the painted area with a sanding block. Finally I used a heat gun to permanently set the inks.
Here’s a comparison shot showing both versions:
DIY win! The finished pails would be so cute being carried by flower girls or providing table decor!
