If you have leftover photo or watercolor paper that’s yearning to be put to great use-have no fear! Using Smooch Accent Inks, you can create an array of customized DIY marbled paper designs!
I’ve put together this fun layout which uses a piece of photo paper that’s been customized with Smooch Accent Inks and water-yes, water!
I will show you just how easy it is to get this marbled effect. Beginning with a disposable or non-porous container (I chose to use a glass cooking dish size appropriate), fill half-way with water (enough that the ink doesn’t go immediately to the bottom of the container.). Simply dip the tip of the Smooch nib into the water; the ink will sit on top of the water. You will have something that looks similar to this-repeat this step to add different colors if desired.
Using the handle of the Smooch Ink bottle, gently stir the ink to create the swirling, marbled effect (again, careful to not make the ink sink). Once the pattern is satisfactory, simply place the piece of paper onto the water and lift!
The possibilities are endless with this simple technique! The designs can be as soft or as bold as you choose!
Amazingly, the shimmer is still present in the design once the water has dried!
Stop tossing those usable scraps of photo and watercolor paper! This is a great way to add some serious color and design customization to your next paper project! I can’t wait to try this technique using different colors! How will you use your marbled pieces?
