So excited to show you how I made this stamped mixed media lampshade! I love working with lights, everything from little twinkle Christmas lights to solar lights and standard lampshades. I happen to have a lamp that has one of those spinners inside the shades that makes the light move when the lamp is on. It happens to be a Barbie lamp and so I’ve never used it. Now that’s going to change with a bit of Fall colored inks, rubber stamping, stenciling, vellum, fabric, buttons and ribbon. ? Read on.
One of my favorite images was a little ClearSnap trailer stamp.
To create a stamped mixed media lampshade, I used it with ColorBox Cat’s Eye pigment Ink pads in Chestnut, Dune, Cement, Frost White and Black.
For another side of the lampshade I used the ColorBox jumbled letter stencil with 2 colors of ColorBox pigment ink applied with a stylus tool with a foam tip.
To attach the vellum to the lamp I embellished binder clips with buttons and ribbons. This way I could swap out the panels when the seasons change, my mood changes or I feel like making some new mixed-media art.
The cool thing about this embellished stamped mixed media lamp is it looks cool when it’s off and on. In addition to stamping on vellum I stamped on organza and cotton fabric. I liked how the different layers looked in day light or when the lamp was on.
