Hello friends! I’ve been inspired to create by own Christmas cards this year. The new ColorBox® Petal Point Ink Pads are so gorgeous that I created 3 different card sets because I had trouble choosing which colors to use. If you’re thinking that you don’t have the time to create Christmas cards by hand, I hope to change your mind. I used one simple design template and the supplies shown below and quickly created 18 cards!
I created my own hand-stamped and embossed patterned papers and hand-stamped and embossed accents for my card sets.
The shine and finish of embossed stamping elevates a simple design and also adds a touch of elegance, which is just what I’m looking for in a Christmas card.
The whimsical gingerbread man stamps had me smiling and I used them to create my first card set.

Wood Veneer Peppermints
Use the 1-inch Gingerbread Man Wood Mount Stamp and the ColorBox® Poinsettia Petal Point Pigment Ink Pad to stamp a piece of 8.5 x 11 cardstock.
Sprinkle the stamped paper with ColorBox® Clear Embossing Powder and apply heat to set.
Cut the stamped cardstock in half lengthwise and then into sections as shown above. Four pieces measure 4×4 inches, and two pieces measure 3×4 inches. Note: Any over-stamping will be covered up in subsequent steps.
Assemble the card bases as shown above. Cover the paper seams with a strip of washi tape. Note: The gingerbread stamp is one-directional, so two cards in this set are horizontal.
Stamp a large focal point for the card using the 3-inch Gingerbread Man Wood Mount Stamp and ColorBox® Gold Pigment Ink. Emboss the stamped image with ColorBox® Gold Embossing Powder and heat to set. Mat the stamped image with red cardstock.
Stamp a sentiment for the card using the Skinny Merry Wood Mount Stamp and ColorBox® Gold Pigment Ink. Emboss the stamped image with ColorBox® Gold Embossing Powder and heat to set. Mat the stamped image with red striped patterned paper.
Use Siren Smooch® to color the raised portion of wood veneer peppermints.
Add the stamped accents and peppermints to the front of each card to finish the set.
The first variation on my card design is a frosty blue color palette and snowflake theme. I used the ColorBox® Winterscape Petal Point Ink Pad, 1-inch Snowflake Wood Mount Stamp, 3-inch Snowflake Wood Mount Stamp, Wish Big Wood Mount Stamp, and Colorbox® Clear Embossing Powder.
I cut out the embossed Wish Big image and tucked it behind the large snowflake so that only the “Wish” portion of the image is visible. For a finishing touch, I added a snowflake button and twine bow. The snowflake stamp can be rotated 360 degrees, so this card design can be used in either the vertical or horizontal position.
Designer Tip: The 1-inch and 3-inch snowflake stamps look great together. The same pattern used throughout a design will provide flow and draw all of your elements together.
The second variation on my card design is a traditional red and green color palette and holly theme. I used the ColorBox® Poinsettia Petal Point Ink Pad, Colorbox® Gold and Clear Embossing Powders, Siren Smooch® and the Skinny Gift, Holly, and Jingle Wood Mount Stamps.
I stamped and embossed an 8.5×11 inch piece of cardstock in gold using the Skinny Holly Wood Mount Stamp. Then, I colored in the stamped design with several shades of green ink from the Poinsettia Petal Point Ink Pad and a wet paintbrush. Next, I highlighted the holly berries with Siren Smooch®. I attached a bell to the bottom of my stamped and embossed accents so this card sounds as festive as it looks! The holly stamp can be rotated 360 degrees, so this card design can be used in either the vertical or horizontal position, and both orientations are shown above.
I hope I have inspired you today! I’d love to see your handmade Christmas cards. Share your designs with us in the I Heart Clearsnap Facebook group.
