Mottled Background Technique – Sunny Days Card

by | October 10th, 2016 | 1

Hi there, it’s Katy Leitch here from the Susan K. Weckesser Creative Team with a card featuring a mottled background technique featuring Susan K. Weckesser’s gorgeous Colorbox Color Pop Inks co-branded with Clearsnap.

I’ve used the inks direct-to-paper to colour the clouds and to create an abstract sky with a background stamp.

Here’s how I created it using the mottled background technique:

  1. Cut a panel of white card. Stamp the spotty stamp (Grunge Fun set) with Ice ink. Use the stamp without a block and use some second impressions to get a look that isn’t too uniform. Repeat but more sparingly with Sky ink.
  2. Swipe a piece of card with Ice ink direct-to-paper. Stamp the clouds in Sky ink over the top and cut out.
  3. Stamp the sun on a scrap of paper with Mystery ink and add a little colour with an orange pencil.
  4. Glue the clouds and sun to the background and add a sticker greeting. Mat onto a white card blank to finish.

Products used:
Clearsnap/Susan K. Weckesser Color Pop Archival Dye Ink: Mystery
Clearsnap/Susan K. Weckesser Color Pop Premium Dye Inks: Sky, Ice
Unity/Susan K. Weckesser stamps: Fly Away
Jillian Vance/Susan K. Weckesser stamps: Grunge Fun
