Kids Craft Folding Menorah

Crafting is a great way to teach children about holiday traditions and symbols. To celebrate Hanukkah, I gathered a mix of Clearsnap® and Xyron® products to create these fun accordion-fold menorahs.

Step 1: To begin cut a WHITE 8″x8″ sheet of cardstock into one-inch strips. Fold down one of the ends (on each strip) about an inch and then cut a flame shape as shown in the photo below. Use the Sunny Smooch® to color in the flame of your candles. Set them aside to dry.

Step 2: Decorate your papers with theColorbox® Spritzer, stamps, and inks. Then use the other Smooch® to highlight the stamp designs.

Keep in mind, the Colorbox® Premium Dye Ink by Stephanie Barnard dries quick, so it’s easy to do this entire project in an afternoon.

Step 3: Cut four of the 8″x8″ sheets in half, this will give you 8 pieces that you’ll then fold in half to create a 4″ square. Cut another page into different sized strips and shapes, the only real requirement is that they are less than 1.5″ wide.

Step 4: Use the Xyron Glue Stick along the sides of your folded papers to create pockets. Be sure not to glue the middle, this is where the candle will be going when the time comes.

Step 5: Let’s make stickers! Following the instructions on the Xyron Sticker Maker we turned our ribbon and altered paper into custom stickers perfectly matched to our project.

Step 6: This is the fun step because you finally get to see all your work come together. Randomly use the stickers to attach your paper pockets to each other. Accordion fold as you go and when you are done you may want to fold up the menorah and put it under a heavy book for an hour or two. This will help to secure it and help it hold its shape.

Now that you have your menorah and candles you’re all set for Hanukkah!

This really is a great kids craft, perfect for letting little minds, and hands, learn the importance of each candle as they are added right to left each night.
