We’re entering the hottest month of the year and then it’s right into fall. Bodacious burgundy and dahlia meet spicy mustard and lush meadow greens in this month’s color challenge. Our AUGUST Card Color Challenge was inspired by tropical, bohemian home decor with a mix of old textures and new gold accents. Make these colors come alive on your projects by using these coordinating colors in our ink catalog:
- ColorBox Pigment Ink in Evergreen
- ColorBox Chalk Ink in Clover
- ColorBox Pigment Ink in Kismet
- ColorBox Chalk Ink in Dahlia
- ColorBox Premium Archival Dye Ink by Stephanie Barnard in Raspberry
- ColorBox Pigment Ink in Curry
- ColorBox Chalk Ink in Yellow Ochre
- ColorBox Premium Archival Dye Ink by Stephanie Barnard inDye Mustard
We’re really excited to share what our guest designers created for you this month but first, we have a new guest designer joining the Clearsnap Blog!
We’re so happy to welcome back Suzanne Austin!
About Suzanne: Hi! My name is Suzanne Austin! I am a SAHM to three awesome kiddos living on the Gulf Coast in Alabama! I love creating scrapbook pages-usually involving some kind of mixed-media, inky technique. I am SO excited to be working with Clearsnap again!!

Check out the projects created by these talented designers and bloggers, inspired by this month’s challenge:
Mixed Media Canvas with Suzanne Austin
This colorful and dimensional mixed-media canvas is a great way to add a bit of whimsy to the walls of your creative space! Using ColorBox® Fluid Chalk Inks in “Dahlia, Yellow Ochre, and Clover” with water and paintbrushes, I was able to color everything from the background to the flower; the ColorBox® Fluid Chalk Inks were even hardy enough to color the plaster cloth components of the flower!!
- ColorBox® Fluid Chalk Inks: “Yellow Ochre, Clover, Dahlia”
- plaster cloth
- seed beads
Basket Makeover by Erin Sipes
Using Colorbox® Chalk Inks and Art Screens I’ve created this colorful bedside wastebasket. Stenciling on the uneven surface can be tricky so it’s important to secure the Art Screen with double-sided tape and if necessary painter’s tape, and take your time.
Keep in mind, the tighter the weave of the basket the crisper the details of your design.
- Colobox® Chalk Ink in Dahlia and Clover
- Colorbox® Art Screens in Tropical and Burst
- Colorbox® Art Daubers
- Small baskets
- Double-sided tape
- Painter’s tape
We love the projects our partner designers have created and hope you are inspired as well.
