Hi friends! Dana here today sharing a fun Summer vacation layout featuring one of my favorite four-legged friends–small lizards. I started this page with some action shots and the Totem Lizard and Totem Alligator from Eye Connect Crafts. These cute chipboard poppets are movable and I had a blast altering them for my scrapbook layout.

I added life to these poppets by first stenciling a camouflage pattern onto the chipboard by using the ColorBox® Cobblestone Art Screen. Once I had the pattern traced onto the chipboard, I painted the lizards with Smooch® Accent Ink. I went from raw chipboard to painted lizards in just a few simple steps.

Stenciling with Art Screens

Step One: Place the Cobblestone Art Screen over the Totem Poppet and use a pencil to trace the pattern onto the chipboard. Note: Keep the Poppet attached to the packaging during this process to help hold the small pieces in place while tracing and to achieve a more natural camouflage pattern.

Step Two: Paint the Poppets with Smooch® Accent Ink. Let dry.

Painting Brads with Smooch

Step Three: Assemble the Poppets by punching out the individual chipboard pieces and securing them together with mini brads. Paint the brads with Smooch® Accent Ink to help blend them into the design. Use a heat gun to dry the ink.

My First ColorBox Stamping

Step Four: Glue google eyes to the Poppets. Note: I trimmed the nose of the alligator with scissors to make the face more lizard-like. Secure the Poppets to the scrapbook page. To ensure that the Poppets remain movable, only apply adhesive to center of the animals.

Optional: Use the My First ColorBox® Meow Mini Stamp Set with ColorBox® Chalk Ink to stamp footprints onto the background of the layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you! If you’re not a fan of lizards, there are dozens of different Totem Poppets available from Eye Connect Crafts. Alos, there are 32 pearlized colors of Smooch® Ink which makes it easy to personalize your Poppet to match your tastes.
