Make this Fun and Festive Cinco De Mayo Flag Centerpiece!

by | April 8th, 2016 | 4

Hello everyone!! Kymona here today with a cute Cinco De Mayo Flag Centerpiece for any party table!! I can’t believe May is around the corner.  Time is flying by so fast.  It only took me ten minutes from start to finish to complete this project using ColorBox Surfacez ink.

Cinco de Mayo Centerpiece

I chose ColorBox® Surfacez® in Passion Purple and Tiki Teal from the Marisa Pawelko line becuase they are bold, vibrant colors, perfect for a Cinco De mayo celebration.

Supplies used KTracey

Here is the supply list:

Clearsnap Supplies:

Other supplies:

  • Circle Doily Stamp Set
  • Color Sugar
  • Twine
  • Script Stamp Set
  • Straws
  • Glass Bottle
  • White Cardstock

Here’s how to create this festive Cinco De Mayo flag centerpiece:

Use each inkpad to create custom colored cardstock byt swiping the pad across the paper. My niece and I did this together, swiping the ink across a piece of white cardstock, completely covering the paper so that no white showed through.

Trim and score the cardstock down to the size you’d like the flags to be.

Stamp an image onto the flag using Colorbox Frost White Pigment Ink; this ink creates a stark white contrast to the colorful inked paper.

While the Pigment Ink is still wet, add clear embossing powder to the stamped image. use a heat gun to heat set the embossing powder, which will dry the pigment ink at the same time.

Heat set the stamped image KTracey

Once the image is heat set, wrap the flag around a straw and adhere it into place.

Repeat the steps above to create as many flags as you want.  To add a sentiment, stamp a word onto a piece of scrap paper and adhere it to one of the straws. Insert the straws into a glass bottle filled with colored sand or sugar.

Hey Lori!! Thank you so much. My niece love adding that sand to the bottle. The top one should be orange but it doesn’t look like it. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me a comment.
