Happy New Year, Clearsnap Fans! In order to start the year off organized, I purchased a new planner. Today I will show you how to make your own DIY Planner Insert Page. Customizing your planner is the fun part of having one; it lets you express yourself. For this project I used this beautiful “Love is the Song” stamp, which I stamped using ColorBox® India ink to give the design a rich dark black. The whimsical purple paper I used was in my paper stash and matched the stamp perfectly. Let’s get started making your DIY Planner Insert Page.
• ColorBox® India Inkpad, Archival Black
• Zenspirations™ Stamp, Love is the Song
• Floral Pattern Paper
• Card Stock
• Markers/Gel Pens: Purples, Greens, Gold
• Glitter Glue: Gold, Purple
• Adhesive Picture Corners
• Hand Hole Punch
How I made my DIY Planner Insert Page:
Cut cardstock paper and pattern paper to the size: 7 x 9.25 inches. Glue the pattern paper to the cardstock. This page size is for the Happy Planner, if you have a different planner, adjust the sizes to fit the pages to your planner. You may also decorate the back side of the insert page, with coordinating paper, if you choose.
Stamp the “Love is the Song” stamp onto a second piece of cardstock using ColorBox® India Inkpad in black. Use markers or gel pens to color the stamped design. Add glitter glue to the hearts on the design for extra sparkle. Allow glue to dry.
Cut the design of the stamp out and use adhesive pictures corners to secure to the center of the floral paper. I used photo corners, which allows me to change the saying during the year. You may also glue the stamped design to the floral paper.
Use an existing page of your planner as a guide for punching the holes at the edge of the page. After holes are punched, use scissors to cut a slit from the end of the paper to the punched hole. This step is for the Happy Planner binding system, if your planner has binder rings, skip the cutting a slit step.
This custom insert page may also be turned into a front cover. To do this, simply laminate the page with a hot laminator. If you do not have one, most office supplies stores offer inexpensive laminating services. Once the page is laminated you will need to re-punch the holes and cut the slits in the laminate.
Making your own custom insert pages is really quite simple and fun. I enjoyed making this one for my planner. Using ColorBox® India Inkpad allows you to achieve a deep rich color when stamping designs onto paper. ColorBox has a line of large wooden stamps that can be used for planner projects along with India Ink. What DIY planner project will you use the deep colored India Ink on?
