Tami Sanders here…

Today I’d like to share this month’s card sketch with you as well as a sample card I made utilizing the sketch.

Every month a NEW! card sketch is added to the blog. Sketches are usually posted on the 13th. You’ll also find tips and techniques for using using inks and more from Clearsnap.

Here is the November sketch…

card sketch #29

This month, two of the Clearsnap products that the Creative Team will be featuring are Design Adhesives and Designer Foils. Design Adhesives are double sided adhesive shapes and motifs that you can embellish with glitter, embossing powder, inks OR — for shine and shimmer, pair with Designer Foils!

The sample card for this month does just that, using Designer Foils in fall colors to add some bLiNg! to the leaf patterned Design Adhesive.

You can use a single color of foil on your Design Adhesive, or use multiple colors. Take a closer look at the bottom portion of the card…

I started foiling the Design Adhesive using small strips cut from Campfire Designer Foils. I placed the strips on some of the larger leaves as well as some of the smaller leaves at the tips of the branches.

Then, I used small pieces of Goldmine Designer Foil to fill in more of the pattern, and finally rubbed a whole strip of Silver Fog over the entire Design Adhesive strip to foil the remaining spots on the strip.

Notice that the foils are not “solid” in the sample, the “distressed” look was created by applying the Design Adhesive to textured rather than smooth cardstock. If you prefer the foil to be solid – then use smooth cardstock for your project.

For best results when using multiple colors of foil, keep the strips of each color small and use your finger to gently touch the strip ONLY to the portion of the pattern you want to foil. Avoid placing the entire piece down on the Design Adhesive. Also DO ensure that you end the foiling process by placing and entire fresh strip over the Design Adhesive and rub along the entire design to foil all the nooks and crannies!

About Tami Sanders

Ink, paper and glue are a few of my favorite things. I enjoy working with a variety of mediums, and don’t really have a set “style”; fresh, graphic or vintage, I like them all.  Likewise, I also find creating a variety of projects challenging. I design scrapbook pages, cards, mixed media projects, altered books, jewelry and more. I have taught scrapbooking and paper crafting classes locally as well as at regional and national conventions. Sharing the joy of inking and paper crafting feeds my creative soul. You can usually find me scouring estate sales and flea markets on the weekends hunting for unique tidbits and trinkets to use in my classes and for my projects. I'm excited to be rejoining the Clearsnap Design Team. I am fortunate to have worked with Clearsnap for over 10 years.
