For a long time, I’ve struggled with the idea of making one-layered cards because I naturally lean towards dimension, dimension, dimension!  This card was surprisingly fun and easy to make with the aid of our brand new ColorBox® India Ink and ColorBox® Spritzers!

I knew I wanted to incorporate a watercolor look, and I knew I wanted it to be cleaner than my norm-just not absolutely perfect. The compromise was to give the card a clean border that would corral the inevitable chaos!  I simply taped off the edges of the card using painter’s tape.  I stamped the background using the ColorBox® India Ink Inkpad; this ink is perfect for this type application because it’s permanent and quick drying!  I was able to add ink and water over the top of the images and did not have to worry about fading or bleeding!

Once the stamping was finished, I created several different colors of “watercolor” by diluting small amounts of ColorBox® Spritzers with water and applying them with a paintbrush; I left the tape on until the ink was dried.  I removed the tape and topped the card off with a greeting!  Thanks for stopping by today!

About Suzanne Austin

Hi!  My name is Suzanne Austin.  I’m a SAHM of 3 kiddos living on the Gulf Coast in Alabama.  I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 17 years and counting!  I began scrapping shortly after the birth of our son, and like most haven’t looked back!  It wasn’t hard to become completely immersed in scrapbooking-the process, the art, the design-I am still in awe of the talent that’s showcased in this industry.  My style is pretty versatile (and still ever evolving), but I tend to lean toward the mixed-media and inky side of scrapping.  My motto: Just do it!  I love experimentation with new ideas and techniques. I tend jump in head first-no regrets. I love the enrichment (and therapy :D) this hobby has to lend.  I’m beyond excited to rub elbows with our talented Creative Team for yet another term!

I am new to cardmaking but have been scrapbooking for years. I am trying everything. Mixed media, stamps, alcohol inks and I like using the water brush on ink pads to color. My kids are grown and now I have my own craft room and I am loving it.
