Hello Clearsnap fans! Lisa Marie Jimenez here, showing you how to make this DIY Happy Halloween Sign. In this tutorial I use Izink Pigment Inks, distributed by Clearsnap®, to add color to casting resin. While shopping at craft store I saw a Halloween themed silicone cake molds and because they were so cute, I had to get them. I used these molds to make the embellishments for this project. Izinks are acrylic based pigment ink, which make them perfect for coloring resin.
Supplies Needed for DIY Happy Halloween Sign:
- Izink Pigment Ink: Safran, Jasmine, Caviar
- Wood Slat Sign, 18”x10.5”
- Casting Resin
- Halloween Themed Silicone Cake Mold
- Craft Paint: Black, White
- Plastic Cups
- Wood Stir Sticks
- Glitter: Orange
- Letter Stencils
- Painters Tape
- Paint Brush
How to Make this Project:
Mix the resin according to manufacturer’s instructions in a plastic cup. Pour a portion of the resin into a new plastic cup. Add several drops of the Caviar Izink Pigment Ink to the resin. Mix the Izink into the resin.
Pour the resin into the mold. Because these are deep cake molds, you will only be filling the mold ¼ of the way. Continue this step for the pumpkin using Safran and Jasmine for the ghost and skull.
Allow the resin to harden according to manufacturer’s instructions. When resin is hard, remove from molds. Paint the eyes and mouths of the characters with black craft paint.
Paint the wood sign with black paint. If needed give a second coat. Lay out stencils and secure to wood with painters tape. Stencil letters using white craft paint. Sprinkle orange glitter over the wet paint.Make a bow add it to the center of the sign and glue the bat in the center. Glue the pumpkins, ghost and skull to the board.
