Hello! Suzanne here to share a quick and easy Asian-inspired greeting card that has been created using ColorBox® Stephanie Barnard Premium Dye Ink Spray, a stencil, and artist modeling paste. The technique is simple and lends itself to custom-colorized texture. If you’ve ever wondered how artists create such a variety of colors with modeling paste, you’re in the right place. Our secret to color modeling paste is using ink!
I created the background by mixing ColorBox® Stephanie Barnard Premium Dye Ink Spray in “Bubblegum” with white artist modeling paste. Apply the paste to a slick surface, like a craft mat. Simply spritz the paste with the Dye Ink Spray until satisfied with the color; mix thoroughly until there is color and texture consistency. You can tint or color any modeling paste this way rather than buying sets of colored modeling pastes.
I used a palette knife to spread the mixture over the stencil. Once dried, I embellished with sequin, the greeting, and a strip of wood paper to add to the Asian insipried look; I also highlighted the leaves and branches with Smooch Accent Ink in “Mocha.” Thanks for stopping by!
