Surfacez Votive Holder

Hi Clearsnap fans! Dana Tatar here today sharing how to use ColorBox Surfacez™ Ink to color glass gems and shrink plastic to create a striking votive holder for the home.

Surfacez ink works great on slick, non-absorbent surfaces and creates a permanent, lightfast and waterproof finish.

This colorful votive holder came together in under an hour and is fun for artists of all skill levels.

Surfacez Glass Gems

Step One: Wash and dry two sizes of glass gems. Apply ColorBox Surfacez™ Ink directly from the ink pad to both sides of the glass gems. Speed the drying process along with a heat gun. Note: To color a large number of glass gems at one time, fill plastic bags with glass gems, add drops of color directly from a ColorBox Surfacez™ Refill, and shake to spread the color over the gems.

Step Two: Stamp onto shrink plastic with ColorBox Surfacez™ Ink. Cut out the stamped image and punch a hole near the top of the design. Bake the shrink plastic in the over per manufacturer instructions.

Step Three: Glue the glass gems onto a votive holder in a pleasing pattern. The votive holder shown above has alternate rows of small Caribbean gems and mini Marmalade gems. To finish the project, string the shrink plastic charm onto a piece of twine and tie it around the votive holder.

Try using any of the 12 ColorBox Surfacez™ Ink colors to create a votive holder to match your home decor. Use your favorite stamps to create one or several charms to adorn your holder. Try adding beads or rhinestones for extra sparkle!
