Handmade Holidays 2014 Hop Logo

Welcome to the final day of the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! We hope you enjoyed the projects from the last 2 days! Today we’re featuring a “party in a box” by Steph Ackerman:

I received some amazing supplies to work with, including a Card Keeper Box from Walnut Hollow that can hold 30+ cards and adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  A Card Keeper Box is a great gift that anyone can enjoy all year long.  As the cards were made and I decorated the box, I came up with a new plan to take the box beyond just a place to save greeting cards…

We are all so busy these days, so what about creating a “Party in a Box” as a gift for the busy moms in our lives? Here’s how to create this project:

Using the Colorbox “Rounded” Art Screen and Colorbox Crafter’s Aquamarine Ink, I decorated the box.  I used the Mandala Art Screen on the box top for a different pattern.  The addition of Colorbox Crafter’s Stone Ink with an Art Dauber around the edges highlighted the box.  A spritz of Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz added a little shine to the box.

A peek inside shows you how roomy the box is and what is included in the box.

Every party starts with invitations – so type up the details, add them to a personalized background created with the Simple Dots Rollagraph Wheel, then mat with cardstock.  Tie ribbon through all layers.  I didn’t have the right color of ribbon so I placed several drops of Topaz Aladine Pigment Ink in a plastic bag with some water and added the ribbon.

A party needs a banner.  Using the personalized rollagraph background creates a coordinating party theme.  Die cut the layers with Sizzix dies for the perfect size banner.

This birthday card uses the Pennants and Stars dimensional adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives.  The Pennants were added to the background and then coated with Seaport Designer Foils.  The Stars were placed on the Pennants and then covered with Silver Glitter.  Additional dyed ribbon was wrapped around the panel before adhering it to the card.

To keep the little ones busy while waiting for the cake, give them a card game to play with.  The cards are cut from navy cardstock at 3″ x 4″.  One side has the Rollagraphed paper with a birthday sentiment stamped in a Sizzix Hexagon die.  The reverse side is stamped with Aladine’s Jungle stamps.

No party is complete without goodie bags.  Created from 6″ x 12″ cardstock, these bags hold a candy surprise.

And a thank you card is always a must after receiving a gift.

So what do you think of my Party in a Box?
