Today, Vivian Keh inspires us with a gorgeous tutorial on how to use gesso as a resist agent with ink:
Hello, Clearsnap fans! Vivian Keh here today to share with you a video tutorial! Last month, a lovely Clearsnap fan commented that she’d love a a video tutorial on Using Gesso as a Resist. I read all your comments, you know :-). Now that we paper people are preparing for autumn/winter crafting and I can feel fresh autumn days upon us, I thought that for my video, I’d craft an appropriate card which illustrates the very easy technique.
Would you like to see some details?
Here’s a closeup of the background, created with our “Blizzard” ColorBox ArtScreen and the Gesso Resist Technique.
It seems like right now a lot of folks I love are going through tough times, major changes. I thought on that a bit and felt that these words would be appropriate, grounding the visual metaphor.
Using this technique, the shapes have sharp edges in some places, and are really soft/almost non-existent elsewhere. I personally find this kind of look very relaxing. Also, while there are some darks, they serve as a nice backdrop for the lights and glowing autumn hues in the leaves.
I really miss East Coast autumns! A little hemp twine and a simple brad to finish.
I hope you enjoy my video tutorial and that it gives you some mojo to jump into your studio with beautiful seasonal changes in mind.
